Quality Bicycles, Accessories & Service for Indianapolis
Bicycle Repair Stands
Work stands make it much easier to work on your bike by
placing it at a comfortable working height.
If you plan on doing a lot of work on your own bicycle,
you will probably want to get one sooner or later.
There is not a lot of demand for repair stands,
so we usually only carry the least expensive model.
We will be glad to special order any of the other models
shown on this page (deposit required).
We can also order professional quality stands
or any accessories
from Park Tool.
The heart of any stand is the clamp.
All work stands on this page have clamps with these features:
- Quick-Release
- Rotate 360 degrees
- Replaceable jaw covers
- Cutouts to allow cable routing
- Fit tubes fom 1" to 1 & 5/8" in diameter
The second important component to any workstand is its base.
The work stand not only has to support the weight of the bike,
but also hold it steady while you torqueing wrenchs,
trying to remove components that may have been on there for
a while. The home mechanic models have bases that fold up so they
be stored away when not in use.
If you look at the work stands we use in the shop,
you can see they are attached to a very heavy base.
Some bike shops have their stands bolted to the floor.
Shown below are 4 repair stands (Click on model number to got
to the Park Tool page for that item):
-
PCS-1 Home Mechanic Repair Stand ($139.95):
This is their entry level model.
The clamp is at a fixed height of 52 inches.
-
PCS-4 Deluxe Home Mechanic Repair Stand ($199.95):
Similar to the PCS-4, but has a beefier clamp,
3 height settings (51, 54 & 57 inches),
and a slightly more stable base.
Here's what Vernon Felton of
Bikemag.com
said about this model:
"A repair stand is only as good as the clamp that holds your bike.
The clamp on the Deluxe Repair Stand is the very same one you'll find
in just about every bike shop in the country·
In short, this is the kind of workstand that'll last a lifetime.
Nothing weak or faint-hearted about this device at all.
Some other stands tip around on you like a drunken sailor when you get
to torquing on the wrenches.
Not this stand--it stands flat-footed and doesn't budge an inch."
-
PCS-2 Home Mechanic Bench Mount Repair Stand ($99.95):
If you don't have the floor space to set up a regular stand,
bench mounted clamps are available.
This model has the same clamp as the PCS-1.
-
PRS-4W Deluxe Home Mechanic Wall Mount Repair Stand ($179.95):
This model will mount to a post or wall stud.
