Triathlon bikes are similar to road racing bicycles, but there is a slightly greater emphasis on minimizing aerodynamic drag & slightly less on weight. In road racing, a cyclist minimizes wind resistance by drafting behind another rider as much as possible, and light weight is needed for that sprint to the finish line, quick acceleration to join a breakaway from the pack, or climbing up difficult hills. Drafting is not allowed in triathlons, so a rider has to minimize his own aerodynamic drag.

Fuji Aloha Triathlon Bicycle - Only $1375
We bet you can't find a better one under $1500

In the Fuji Aloha (retails for $1375) shown above, wind resistance is minimized in several ways:

Please note that while some weight has been added to achive lower aerodynamic drag (the aero profiles for the tubes & wheel rims make them a tad heavier), it still weighs only 18 pounds. For detailed specs, please visit the Fuji Aloha page. The Aloha is priced at only $1375. We don't think you can find a better triathlon bicycle for less than $1500. If you do please e-mail Roy and we'll look into carrying it at our store.

If you want an even better triathlon bicycle, the Airborne X-1 has a titanium frame. You can customize it by selecting the components you want at the Airborne page (under "Products" then "Road Bikes"). Prices for complete bikes start at around $2,750.

The photo to the left is Matt Simcox riding his Airborne Spectre (an earlier Airborne triahlon model) in the 2001 Shelbyville Triathlon. Matt didn't purchase his Airborne from Circle City Bicycles, because we weren't a dealer at that time. He was so delighted with his Airborne, that he recommended we carry them. In 2003, acted on his advice & became Airborne's only dealer in Indianapolis.

We do not generally stock triathlon bikes, because it is such a small market. We will gladly order either the Fuji Aloha or Airborne X-1 for you, and give you $200 in free accessories.

If you have questions, feel free to call us at Circle City Bicycles (786-9244) or e-mail Roy. He's always glad to talk to people who appreciate fine road bikes. If you would like to take a test ride, please come to our store at Madison & Epler on the south side of Indianapolis (those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
